SMS Compliance

SMS Consent Disclosure

How Guilietta collects user consent before sending SMS notifications

Creating an account and using Guilietta do NOT require SMS consent. SMS is used only in the optional Safe Travel feature.

How consent is collected

Guilietta only sends SMS after the user takes an explicit, affirmative opt-in action: ticking a dedicated consent checkbox that is unchecked by default and separate from the Terms of Service. Here is the step-by-step opt-in flow inside the app:

01

Add an emergency contact

From the Emergency Contacts screen, the user adds a trusted contact and their mobile number.

Before starting a Safe Travel session, the user explicitly selects which contacts to notify by SMS.

SMS safety alerts (optional)

When you tick the box below, Guilietta will send one-time, non-recurring SMS safety alerts to the contacts you selected. This opt-in is optional and separate from the Terms of Service. Recipients can reply STOP to opt out at any time or HELP for help. Msg & Data Rates May Apply.

A clear disclosure sits next to the consent checkbox — explaining the purpose, that messages are one-time and non-recurring, that rates may apply, and how recipients can opt out.

04

Tick the optional consent box

Safe travel
Start trip

Disabled until you tick the optional box

Ticking the dedicated SMS checkbox — unchecked by default — is the affirmative opt-in. “Start trip” stays disabled until it is ticked, and tapping it is not, by itself, the act of consenting.

Emergency contact confirmation (double opt-in)

Emergency contacts are never messaged on someone else's say-so. When you add a contact, Guilietta sends them one verification SMS, and they only start receiving safety alerts after they reply YES from their own phone. Until they confirm, they receive no alerts.

Verification SMS the contact receives

Guilietta: [Name] added you as a safety contact. Reply YES to receive safety alerts, STOP to decline. Msg & data rates may apply.

Reply YES / SÍ → starts receiving alertsReply STOP / NO → never messaged again
